El Salvador Plan de la Batea - washed
washed, 1350-1500m
variety: Orange Bourbon
Ricardo Augspurg grows his coffees on the slopes of the Santa Ana volcano, on his finca Plan de la Batea. The farm mainly cultivates Red Bourbon plants. This lot, however, comes from the Orange Bourbon subspecies, whose cherries, as the name implies, turn a deep orange when ripe. While Red Bourbons are traditionally known more for chocolaty flavors, the Orange Bourbon is dominated by floral and tropical notes, while also having the intense sweetness that Salvadoran Bourbons are known for.
